The origins of the “Compagnia Italiana della moda e del costume srls” (Italian Fashion and Costume Tailoring srl) are inextricably linked to the history of Brancato Tailoring.
Eufemia Borraccia Brancato was the founder and soul of this historic tailoring atelier in Milan, for someone called her “EMI” and for most of us “La SIGNORA” (the lady). A “petite”, smiling, but very strong woman who, in the 60s, gave birth to the theatrical Tailoring that conquered the world.
The “LADY” didn’t have an easy life, but she was always able to face and overcome the obstacles and pains of life with her head-on, each time with renewed strength and determination. A woman, mother of three, early alone to raise them, who was able, with rare entrepreneurial creativity, to give life to her own dream, making tailoring a signature in the field of theater, and especially of ballet, internationally recognized. A woman who has been able to take over her life by remodeling it with intelligence, passion and love for her work and her family. She worked alongside the best costume designers in the most important theaters of the world. The LADY was not only the owner of a Tailor shop, but a real dream builder.
Mario Brancati, the youngest of her children, therefore grew up in the tailor atelier, among frill, lace, fabrics and magic. It was natural, at some point, to work alongside her mother in running the company. He was definitely the worthy heir of her mother artistic and human heritage. A legacy that currently embraces the whole repertoire of Brancato costumes, made over many years of work and that includes a staff composed of historic craftsmen, who grow new and promising ones, and keep on following the steps of the historic tailoring, but with new will and vitality. The first show, with which the Italian Fashion and Costume Company started, was Mary Poppins, the musical. A show that, with inexhaustible enthusiasm, has flooded the tailor’s shop with magic, making it set off in full sail towards the future.
